How to File

Siskiyou County has a single courthouse for small claims: the Superior Court at 411 Fourth Street, Yreka, CA 96097. Small claims filings are permissive e-file (per Local Rule 2.23) through any of the court's approved Electronic Filing Service Providers, or you may file in person at the public service window. Bring the SC-100 (Small Claims Complaint) plus the filing fee, or a fee-waiver request (form FW-001) if you cannot afford it.

Serving the Defendant

Serve the defendant at least 15 days before the hearing (20 days if the defendant lives outside Siskiyou County). File the proof of service (SC-104) with the court before the hearing.

Hearing Tips

The court uses Zoom for remote appearances by video and telephone; for a small-claims hearing or trial, you must file a Notice of Remote Appearance (form RA-010) at least 10 court days before the hearing.
Court-appointed interpreters are provided at no cost for criminal, traffic, and other mandated case types; for small claims (a civil matter) an interpreter is provided only when one is available, so request one (form INT-300, submitted at the public service window or emailed to Interpreter@siskiyou.courts.ca.gov) at least 5 days before your hearing — if none is available, you may need to arrange your own.
